An Edinburgh institution with an international reputation, Hendersons opened in 1962 as an outlet for the produce of husband and wife Mac and Janet's East Lothian Farm.

Today it offers discerning diners cutting-edge, contemporary vegetarian and vegan cuisine while holding firm to its founding philosophy: serving wholesome food made using fresh, local and organic ingredients.

The unique buzz of the basement restaurant in Edinburgh’s historic New Town is complimented by the intimate, elegant yet informal atmosphere of Hendersons Vegan on Thistle Street, and the Hendersons Shop & Deli on street level serving our own mouth-watering delights and a range of organic, local and healthy foods and drinks. In 2015, Hendersons also opened next to the iconic Scottish Parliament, and brought Hendersons' brand of vegetarian and vegan food to the Edinburgh Old Town.

Hendersons is woven into the cultural fabric of Edinburgh and has longstanding relationships with artists, musicians and actors spending time in the city. The Salad Table has live music every night, and there are events all year round in all of our premises such as art exhibitions, book launches and more. Hendersons also provides catering on location for weddings, parties and corporate events.
