About Us

An Edinburgh institution with an international reputation, Henderson's opened in 1962 as an outlet for the produce of husband and wife Mac and Janet's East Lothian Farm. Today it offers discerning diners cutting-edge, contemporary vegetarian cuisine while holding firm to its founding philosophy: delicious, wholesome food using fresh, local ingredients and all at affordable prices.

The unique buzz of the basement restaurant in Edinburgh's historic New Town is complemented by the intimate, elegant yet informal atmosphere of the recently refurbished bistro, while busy shoppers might be tempted instead by the truly mouthwatering deli counter.

All three are supplied by an in-house artisan bakery, whose products are available in Henderson's shop alongside a fantastic choice of local, fair-trade, organic and gluten-free goodies, fresh juices, smoothies and organic wines.

Henderson's have a range of options for private parties, including hire of the new Henderson Gallery, with its regular exhibitions of the best in contemporary art.
