Linn Lorkin in her all-original truesical comedy

Hey,Piano Bar Lady!

'How many people do YOU know who could turn theirlives into a musical comedy?' (Peta Mathias, Redhead Media)

What happens when you're a kiwi muso arriving in the Big Apple with no money andnowhere to live ? You end up in a piano-bar. And life's just beginning... Through swinging original songs and wryly funny stories Linn Lorkin chronicles her adventures in a bye-gone New York as she sleeps on sofas, searches for true love and plays her way from rusty SoHo to ritzy Park Avenue.

'this show sparkles !. a lively combination of beautiful singing, spirited story-telling and dazzling jazz piano-playing' ( Magee Hickey, WCBS-TV, New York)

'a deliciously jazzy romp through '80s Manhattan... cool, elegant songs with brilliantly tangled rhymes and dizzying musical twists... She's a treasure." (New Zealand Listener)

Linn talks about the show's beginning :

"While on tour in Europe with The Jews Brother Band, summer 2009, I was invited to perform a solo concert in an appartment on Berlin's storied Kurfurstendamm Strasse. I had previously had the idea of anauto-biographical musical about my time as a piano-bar performer in New York in the late 70s and 80s. So there I was on the Ku'damm with a happy bunchof English-speaking Berliners, playing a fabulous Bechstein grand and telling the stories. My 'truesical comedy' was born ! "

'Hey,Piano Bar Lady!' was developed and honed through a series of house-concerts in both New Zealand and New York from late 2009 through late 2010. The first public performance was at Don't Tell Mama, NYC, November 2010, followed by a short season at Auckland Fringe March 2011.
